North American releae will NOT have Starforce.

Lovely.

But that won't matter if it can't do proper widescreen.

Well ive gone ahead and ordered it in the hope that it wont have Starforce, ive ordered the new Oblivion add-on "Shivering Isles" the same time too, so i'll have time to cancel STALKER if it does turn out to have Starforce on it...

The nice thing about SecuROM is that it's easier to crack than Starforce. I am *not* condoning piracy in any way, but I do think it's nice to be able to bypass annoying copy protection for games that you legally own a copy of. Personally, I've never had to deal with SecuROM. I just download a no-CD patch before I even launch the game for the first time.

Especially if you're an early adopter of Vista, it hates older copy protection. NOCD cracks are a must with it.

The game doesn't use Starforce and it does support widescreen. Runs great at 2560x1600 with everything on high detail. Running on two 8800GTX tho. Couldn't get it running on 2x 3007FPW unfortunally.

Game is ok, but not what i've expected. The graphics are ok, but noting special. Gameplay is pretty good although the guns look like shit :)

Not very hard either. Since this is my day off i'll proberly finish it today ;)

It is great news that it doesn't have Starforce ... that video I posted earlier had me worried ...

Re widescreen ... whilst it does support the resolutions it is cutting the top and bottom off the view ... just like BF2 ... :(

Hey my mate reckons this game is a RPG FPS. Is that right? Is there character development?

Read this review it will give you a good idea what it is all about ... review

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s huge environments and open-ended gameplay make it more like a role-playing game, as you can go where you want and do what you want if you're willing to live with the consequences. However, you don't have to worry about traditional role-playing attributes such as strength or intelligence, or accumulating skills and abilities.
... and I'm so very glad these things aren't in this game ... :P
