Thanks for the info Paddy. I saw the announcement about the drivers as well. I was just disappointed when I heard my friend with his 7950GT was running it "silky-smooth" and here I was with a substantially more powerful card running the game with poor framerates.

New drivers for the 8800's out last night ... http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_97.94.html
... they don't help at all ... :(

Speaking of drivers;

Has nVidia forgot about the rest of its cards?

According to the "accepted bugs" thread on the GSC forums, they developers apparently know about the FOV in widescreen.

"There was a discussion of widescreen support. The problem is understood, and should be fixed in the third patch."

http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums

Sounds promising.

Yeah I saw that ... I think it was posted here on the WSGF somewhere too ...

Speaking of drivers;

Has nVidia forgot about the rest of its cards?

I think they have been concentrating on Vista drivers ...

Somehow ATI can do both at the same time :P

1440x900: take hud width=x height=x

?

Do you mean a file that might say what size HUD to use ... ?
If I did I would have fixed the HUD for TH ... :wink: ... :lol:

However ... there are various files that define the HUD sizes etc ... but they are rather complicated ... the main one being ... ui_hud.xml
They are all in the ... gamedataconfigui ... folder once you have unpacked all the .db files.

There are also a couple of files that seems to define the font sizes ... they are in the ... gamedataconfig ... folder ... called ... fonts.ltx ... and ... fonts.ltx~

I hope that helps ... :D

Um, so this may be a silly question, but does anyone know how to do a double install of STALKER? I've been playing with some of the mods but I can't use them with Multiplayer, which I still enjoy from time to time. Throwing in the DVD only allows me to start the game, and I'd rather not have to fuss with files each time I switch between SP and MP. Thanks,

Try renaming the following folder in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGSC Game World

Not sure where the game looks for tho.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned in this thread, but I found this funny:

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/46449

Apparently the STALKER team may have "stolen" assets from Doom 3.
