Hi Paddy,

The only question I want ask is how much do your house lights dim when you crank up all the gear you have? (or did you buy a generator along with the 8800's?

Can't you just use a pci-e splitter to power the four connectors off two pci-e lines?

A minimum of a 450W power supply is recomended for each 8800GTX ... I'm not going to risk it ...

A 450W PSU is recommended for one whole system which has one 8800GTX. The card alone doesn't need a whole 450W.

I don't know if there are any better alternatives to getting 2 PSUs though. Aren't there some PSUs which like 800+ W and 4 PCIe plugs which would work?

Yes ... there are now ... see RUS007's second post above ... and as I said I don't think there was when I got the system.

Nice one Paddy,

That’s a good thread to have on its own.

My 1KW PSU only has 2 PCIe cables only because there wasn’t need for 4 when it came out. I could technically use my PSU for 2 8800s but it would be nice to stay away from splitter cables to keep the system nice and clean.
