amBX doesn't like Racer_S's res changer

If you want to use the res changer you have to turn off amBX for gaming (and not just set the game's amBX profile to Disabled) or Just Cause won't launch. Remove the res changer and you can have amBX.

The res changer is causing the desktop and task bar to flicker through into the game for me.

Windows XP Pro, 32 bit
Geforce 9600GT, NVIDIA 195.62 drivers
Core 2 Duo E8400

Does anyone have any advice (other than to play at 1280x1024)?

Hmm, the res changer linked to from http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/] works without the flickering.

The res changer linked to from [url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/Racer_S_Hacks
causes desktop to flicker through into the game.
