[quote]Im wondering dopefish, when I put in the FOV calculator
Original 16:9,
New 16:10
Default FOV: 80
The result is: 85.9913448314
Where did you get the 74.11945114?
And can someone give a small explanation about this game's FOV and widescreen settings, Im getting confused here. Do you mean that the 16:9 aspect ratio is the "default"? (game has been programmed like this?)
Is it just me or its different from the other games, because when I take a screenshot of both the 4:3 and 16:10 resolution, with FOV 80 (defaulted), I get the same width of view, but less height; so thats normal right? Thats VERT- I guess. But if I use 74.11945114, I get even less width and height; is it normal? Am I missing something here?
The calculator on this site is incorrect when you do that conversion.
I made a calculator that will handle conversion of all aspect ratios and do them correctly.

If you think about it, 16:9 is a greater aspect ratio than 16:10, so there is no way the ending FOV will be greater than the starting 80 FOV of 16:9.
And yes, you will be cropping your vertical height in 16:10. But this is correct. The "default" aspect ratio is 16:9. It's what the game was designed for.
The game is Vert+ for anything below 16:9 and Vert- for anything above 16:9. So you crop the views for anything below 16:9 to match the height of the 16:9 aspect ratio, and for anything above 16:9, you move the camera out to extend the vertical height to match the 16:9 one.
Thats great thnx
And where did you find that the FOV of 80 was for the 16:9 ratio?
BTW I played a lot today with GoW and I noticed that when I change the FOV, it seems to remove the small zoom that the aiming button adds when you hold it. At least it seemed to do it for me anyway.
