Ya, TH2G is still restricted to 60hz for the center 3 1280x1024 screens.

restriction on 3840x1024@60Hz is due in part to the 400MHz bandwidth limit of the VGA RAMDAC.. 3840x1200@60Hz is even closser to the edge..

even at 65Hz.. it exceeds the 400MHz bandwidth

TH2Go works best/built for LCDs in mind.

That and the fact that 3 21" CRT are consuming some power were the 2 only reasons for switching to lcds.

Both are true, but this was only possable for me because the 21" CRTs were $10 Boeing surplus I had sitting around idle in the basement. I actually got 6 of those evil paperweights.

Question. Is SoftTH basically the same thing a one TH2GO unit? Meaning did I even have to buy a TH2GO unit to go with three monitors or could I just have used SoftTH? I would like to know if I wasted my money... :D

There are tradeoffs. SoftTH can do things TH2G can't but at a tradeoff of fps efficiency. Hardware vs software solutions. Yes, you can do exactly what the TH2G does in SoftTH but it's slower.

SoftTH:
- direct3d only
- need files/config in any app you want to try it with
- often doesn't work or works poorly (in my limited experience anyways)

TH2G
- works with any video output
- hardware, no files to mess with except the config and even that is optional.
- tends to have greater compatibility, minus apps that don't care for wide res./fov configs.

When you want 5 monitors you have to use TH2Go and SoftTH combined!
