Like many things the 64bit situation is this:

Some times it wins, sometimes it loses, right now it's irrelevant:most apps are 32 bits, hence most people use a 32bit os to run them.

Sure I could run a 64bit os with 32 bit apps, I might get a bit more ram but it'll also have a chance to introduce non-32bit os bugs and crashes.

Once most apps are 64bit we'll swap to most using a 64bit os.

Probability of that happening (by math of Mesh(tm)) 0.0000001%. It hasn't happened for all the 64 bit hardware in the past, it won't any time, not for gamers anywho.

In the mean time, chill, have some gummy bears, and find something to discuss that'll be a bit more productive and that you might even have something to directly impact it with.

You can't control it, why worry about it?

[quote]But my friend said it was faster.

Here's a Jeep with a 12 HP gain, dyno provided.
http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?ID=1101

Here's a 17 HP gain. Dyno probvided.
http://www.hiperformancestore.com/DUBairIntakes.htm

And btw, my friend said it's faster.

I guess I'm retarded. 2-3 HP?

Here's a 64 bit OS, with a 10-15% speed gain. Dyno on the way.

Man, you're taking this way too seriously. Have a Martini, on me.

Dude, manufactures always report higher gains that what they really are.

That's like saying your brand new 300hp car is really 300hp. Take it to a dyno yourself and you're going to find out it's quite a bit lower.

I actually went to school at UTI and I ran a dyno on many, many cars and I did a lot of tuning on cars. A realistic gain is 2-3hp.

You fail.

I'm retarded. Because I didn't prove things. I fail because I proved things but you went to school.

Good one.

And we all know that a brand new car's horsepower rating is at the crank, and not at the wheels. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm retarded.

And yes, Mesh, I second that. Although Gummy Bears wouldn't be my first choice of "chill out" material.

You're not helping yourself here.

Anyway, I'm off to sleep and ponder the number 42.
What's there to ponder?

It's so obvious.

I'm not helping myself because I'm right? Or because I'm retarded? Or because I fail?

I had you pegged in the teens, not 42. Well, old men need to play games too (I just didn't think they were the computer kind). And head to sleep early..

Naw, I was being facetious. Mine skipped over yours.

Besides, I already know the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

And, I wasn't a big fan of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Shouldn't someone just close this thread? I could always delete it..

At this point, would you even believe me?

So I've been called a retard when I had no hard facts, that I failed when I provided facts, and now an ass.

Watch me provide benchmarks and be called a liar. No win scenario.

Rest assured, I'll benchmark a few games, 32 and 64 bit. FarCry, HL2, EP1, EP2, Lost Coast, Crysis, and whatever else I can get my hands on that has both 32 and 64 bit versions. Too bad Riddick doesn't work on Vista, as it's a great game and has a 64 bit counterpart.

Let's snooze for a bit. I need to install OS32 and all the games, then bench 'em. I'll post results when done.
