Well, if you aren't running Windows this won't work. Also, if you are doing a fresh install, it would be much easier to press a button than install the entire OS just to install the GXM so you can actually read what is on the BIOS screen.
No, the info is stored on the box, so once you set it up, it should work no matter what you're running....
I know this because since I've added that setting, I've reformatted/reinstalled a couple times, and the screens for it have always been the right res on the middle screen...
