Hello all,

Had an alternative idea for getting game working at a impressive res if struggling to get 5040x1050 working.

I'm running two screens at 3360x1050 and one at 1650x1050. Whilst you can't span in vista (and i couldn't get it working in xp like this) - you CAN run a windowed program across all three screens.

Am having trouble getting games to give me 5040x1050 as an option however.

I know there are threads on this (and a new BETA powerdesk) I'm afraid i'm a little behind and havn't read any of it recently - so bear with me.

However Crysis at 3360x1050 centered across three screens in a window (so the side screens are half used) is better than 3840x800 IMO.

Thoughts?

If you need more windowed mode info on particular games, check out a list I posted here:
http://www.genadmission.com/windowed.html

If the resolutions are your problem, you will probably have to track down command-line launch parameters or try tweaking per-game configuration settings available in the Master Games List. I'm betting a number of games just won't like a non-standard res like 3360x1050, but you never know unless you try. ;)

If I've misunderstood your post let me know.

You're going to take some serious performance hits with windowed mode. You'll see no benifit at all from spamming on 1 card in windowed mode spanning all 3 screens.

In my experience this varies greatly from one game to the next. Some perform worse, some the same, some even perform better. Dropping to 3360x1050 shaves 1,764,000 pixels off the rendering load, which should boost fps unless the engine in question just has issues running in windowed mode.

Cheers for the replies,

3360x1050 appears in all my games i think thats because it's on in the windows list. Suddently don't seem to be able to create custom resolutions - I'm sure if I could get 5040x1050 into the windows list the games will pick it up.
