Hi Guys,

So I'm buying a new Gfx card to support my surround gaming setup at 5040x1050 and I have decided to buy the GTX285. My question is hopefully a simple one...does it really matter what brand one buys?? I get so confused between XFX, ASUS, EVGA.....etc etc etc...

How does one know which is the best buy?

Yes, it matters. The biggest point is the after-sale service. Length of warranty, warranty coverage, RMA service, etc.

Personally, I've been very happy with EVGA. I've had to work with their warranty dept before (RMA'd a dead 8800) and it went very smoothly, no problems at all.

two cents worth, for FREE! :)

Well, I have noticed that some brands have different spec'd speeds on their memory core and processor speed.

Why would this be and does this affect the decision I make as to which brand I should buy?

The only brands that I touch are:

eVGA,
XFX,
BFG

All 3 have lifetime warrenty and good customer service which is the big selling point between AIB partners.

The first time you call customer service and you can't understand the guy on the other end through the accent you understand why this matters...

I agree with dafox - BFG is good too, I've had a couple of their cards and power supplies. I did have to RMA a BFG power supply once and they wouldn't cross-ship. No personal experience with XFX but I've heard good things.

I'll have to agree with these guys, EVGA and BFG are good makers. I buy EVGA 99.9% of the time, because of their 90 day step-ups, but I've bought BFG a few times, and their quality is just as high...

Well, I just picked up my XFX GTX295 ad the supplier tells me that it only has a 2year warranty. Go Figure....
